No. 6 CSM bounces back with 12-4 win over Chabot
SAN MATEO – No. 6 state-ranked College of San Mateo bounced back from a rare loss with a 12-4, six-inning win over visiting Chabot College on Monday. The Coast Conference victory improved the Bulldogs to 26-5 overall and 7-1 in conference play.
CSM was coming off a tough 7-0 loss at West Valley College on Saturday that snapped a five-game losing streak.
Despite being shutout in their last contest, the Bulldogs wasted little time jumping on Chabot. CSM posted four runs in the bottom of the first inning, another in the second, and blew the game open with a five-run, third-inning rally.
The Bulldogs totaled 12 hits in the contest, including a pair by Lafulafu Malepeai. She smacked a two-run home run and a double to lead CSM on offense as part of a 2 for 4 day at the plate.
Megan Barstad, Vanessa Lang, and Mariah Norris also had 2 RBI each.
Siona Halwani opened the game in the circle with three perfect innings. She struck out three batters before Tori Cortez closed out the contest pitching the final three innings.
The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday (Apr. 6) at 6 p.m. when they travel to Stockton to play San Joaquin Delta College at the University of Pacific.
