CSM rolls past Delta with another 60+ point output (62-7). to host unbeaten CCSF for title Sat.

SAN MATEO – The stage is set for the biggest community college football showdown of the year.

Following another 60- point Bay 6 League victory, 62-7 over visiting San Joaquin Delta College, reigning state (and national) champion College of San Mateo (8-1 overall) will pit matching 4-0 league records with current state-top-ranked City College of San Francisco (9-0) in a Nov. 11 title showdown at College Heights Stadium at 1 p.m..

CCSF stayed undefeated with a 59-6 victory at Chabot.

State No. 5 ranked CSM is averaging 62.5 points in league play, while holding each opponent to one score.

The Bulldogs displayed an awesome passing attack against Delta, with their top two quarterbacks remaining "perfect" until the final two minutes of the third quarter – when they had a single incompletion.

"We protected and we were efficient," said CSM coach Tim Tulloch.

Northern California passing leader Anthony Grigsby completed all 11 of his throws for 225 yards and three touchdowns (in less than one half of action). That raised his season collegiate efficiency rating to 179.0 -- and a spectacular 290.3 in league play (by far the best by any "regular" in the state).

Grigsby had TD tosses to Terrence Loville (for 8 and 52 yards) and Fidel Pitts (8 yards) to brings his Bay 6 co-leading TD pass total to 23 (No. 4 in the state).

"We protected and we were efficient," said CSM coach Tim Tulloch.

Back-up Alex Grado was 8-of-9 for 116 yards and two scores – the only miss coming with 1:36 remaining in the third quarter on a still successful 75-yard TD drive. Grado has a 195.2 efficiency rating for the season, although with limited action, and has five scoring throws (fifth among all B-6 passers). His TD passes against the Mustangs were 6-yards to Jeremiah Patter and 38-yards to Corey Le'aupepe.

San Mateo got off to its usual fast start against Delta (2-7 overall), taking control with a trio of first quarter touchdowns.

Nate Sanchez saw his most significant action in recent weeks, completing a pair of Bulldogs drives with tallies of one and seven yards, rushing 13 times for 93 yards before sitting for the remaining three quarters. He is still the No. 2 Bay 6 rusher for the season with a 59.1 yards per game average and five TDs.

Matthew White also had a productive rushing day for CSM, gaining 115 yards on 10 carries. Atelea Tengei had a 15-yard touchdown among his six carries for 15 yards as the Bulldogs rolled for 274 yards on the ground.

San Mateo totaled 615 yards of offense and limited Delta to 174 (just 65 rushing).

Arona Mata'u and Soane Kolokihakaufisi led the CSM defense with four tackles apiece as the Bulldogs recorded 12 tackles for loss (including four sacks). Kimani Stafford and Ja'ir Smith picked off Delta passes while San Mateo did not turn the ball over.

Caleb Ojeda added to his NorCal pacesetting kickscoring with eight PAT kicks for 75 total points. He did not get or need a field goal attempt.

--At stake Saturday against San Francisco will be the Bay 6 League title and an automatic berth in the 3C4A state playoff, which get underway Nov. 25. Other NorCal playoff prospects are two foes San Mateo defeated in pre-league, American River College (8-1), which has wrapped up the NorCal League berth, and Modesto JC (6-3) , which co-leads the Valley League. The region's lone at-large spot will be determined on RPI rating between the loser of Saturday's Bay 6 showdown and NorCal league runner-up Butte (7-2), the only team to defeat CSM.
