Bulldogs wrap up fifth straight Coast Conference championship
FREMONT – For the 10th time over the past 11 seasons, College of San Mateo has captured the Coast Conference championship.
The Bulldogs closed out another impressive regular season on Tuesday with a 10-2 conference victory at Ohlone College. CSM claimed its fifth straight conference title by finishing on top of the Coast Conference standings with a 12-2 record, two games ahead of second-place rival West Valley College at 10-4.
Megan Barstad and Ari Williams once again led the Bulldogs to victory on Tuesday. Barstad drove in 5 runs, going 2 for 4 while Williams totaled 3 RBI with a 1 for 3 game at the plate. Emma Kinder was solid from the leadoff spot, reaching base three times while going 2 for 3 with 2 runs, a walk, and RBI.
Kennedie Magorian picked up the win to improve to 14-3 overall. She allowed 2 runs and 5 hits while striking out 5 in the complete-game effort.
San Mateo will now look to the postseason, as the Bulldogs head to the playoffs with a 33-5 overall mark. The Bulldogs will look to return to the state championships for the 10th consecutive season and win the program's second state title.
