CSM Swimming & Diving enters second season of reboot
This spring marks the second season of competition in the return of the College of San Mateo swimming & diving program as the men's and women's teams look to build on their gains from last year. The 2023 season marked the restart of collegiate aquatics at CSM, with the athletic department now fielding men's and women's water polo and men's and women's swim & dive teams. The Bulldogs are preparing for the 2024 season with a versatile roster and balanced schedule including conference and non-conference competitions.
"We've seen very strong interest in both our men's and women's teams this season, with a pretty dramatic increase in the size of both rosters," said CSM head coach Andrew Silva. "We're incredibly fortunate to have the facility and resources at CSM to support a growing and competitive aquatics program. And we're starting to see the positive results of the hard work this group has put in."
Both the men's and women's teams will include a mix of returning swimmers from last season, and a group of new additions to the roster. The added depth of the rosters this season will be an advantage for the teams, especially in conference competition. There are new additions to the coaching staff as well to better serve the growing rosters.
"The coaching staff has really come together nicely as well," Silva said. "We have just a great group of coaches on deck to support the team in practices and competitions."
The Bulldogs officially start their season of competition at City College of San Francisco for a Coast Conference meet on Friday (Feb. 2).
