REEDLEY – No. 18-seed College of San Mateo is headed to the second round of the Northern California Regional Playoffs thanks to its 56-37 victory at No. 15 Reedley College on Wednesday in its postseason opener.
Jill David led CSM in the win with 12 points after sinking 4 three-pointers. Simone Murray totaled 9 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists while Heaven Payton also scored 9 points. Chozen Horn-Young contributed 8 points.
The Bulldogs next play at No. 2 San Joaquin Delta College in Round 2 on Saturday (March 1) at 7 p.m. The two squads will face each other for the first time this season.
Delta had an opening-round bye and enters the contest with a 20-8 overall record. The Mustangs captured the Big 8 Conference championship with a 14-2 mark.
The winner will play either No. 7 City College of San Francisco or No. 10 Shasta College in a third-round game on March 8. Two more wins are needed by the Bulldogs to advance to the 3C2A State Championships on March 13-15 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
