Mike Dovenberg joined the CSM coaching staff in January 2017, after spending the previous three seasons as the Head Football Coach at Gavilan College in Gilroy, CA. Coach Dovenberg will serve as Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks coach, and will assist with fundraising and student-athlete academic success. During Dovenberg’s tenure at Gavilan from 2014-2016, over 40 players earned the opportunity to continue their football and academic careers with scholarships to four-year programs. 

In 2014, Coach Dovenberg was named to the inaugural “30 Under 30” class by the NCAA and American Football Coaches Association, recognizing the top 30 future leaders of the coaching profession.

Before taking over as Head Coach at Gavilan, Coach Dovenberg spent one year as Offensive Coordinator and QB/WR coach. He came to Gavilan from Kansas Wesleyan University, where he coached wide receivers from 2012-2013. Dovenberg also coached one year at Ellsworth College, where he worked with Tight Ends in 2011. Coach Dovenberg began his coaching career at Patrick Henry High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he served as WR/DB coach and coordinated the offense and special teams from 2009-2010.
