Bio

Coach Sekona is in his second year as the Defensive Coordinator at the College of San Mateo. Coach Sekona returned to CSM after spending the 2017 season as the linebackers coach at Portland State University.  For the 2015 & 2016 seasons Coach Sekona was a graduate assistant at the University of Washington. Coach Sekona helped coach the linebackers for the 2016 Pac-12 Champions. Prior to his stints at Portland State and the University of Washington, Coach Sekona was the linebackers coach for the College of San Mateo from 2010 to 2014. Coach Sekona, who attended Aragon High School, began his playing career at the College of San Mateo where he was an All-State linebacker. After CSM, he transferred to Kansas State, earning two letters as a linebacker for the Wildcats.  Coach Sekona played in all 24 games during his Wildcats career. Coach Sekona earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Kansas State. He has also earned a master’s degree in Ed. IAL (Intercollegiate Athletics Leadership) from the University of Washington.  Coach Sekona is married.
