Riley Goulding joins the Bulldogs for his first season as Associate Head Coach. Coach Goulding played infield for the Bulldogs on their 2010 final four team and their 2011 Super Regional team before transferring to Division 1 University of Texas Rio Grande Valley of the Western Athletic Conference.

Goulding returns to the Hilltop after spending 7 seasons coaching at the Division 1 level. He began his coaching career at Cal State Northridge in 2014 under then Head Coach, Greg Moore.

At CSUN, Goulding guided the Matadors Offense and infielders to multiple successful seasons. In 2019 CSUN’s hitters ranked second in the Big West Conference in homeruns, extra base hits, walks, and slugging percentage. While ranking 3rd in stolen bases. In 2018 CSUN was #1 in the Big West Conference in runs scored (329), Home Runs (65), RBI (309), extra base hits (179), and slugging percentage (.429). The Matadors were second in hits (559) and doubles (102). In 2017, CSUN’s hitters ranked first in Big West Conference play in doubles and extra base hits, second in runs scored, and third in batting average, home runs, and RBI.

During his time at CSUN, Goulding also spent one summer coaching in Alaska with the Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks where he helped guide the ‘Panners to a 27-12 record. Goulding also spent three summers as the Head Coach of the Northridge Bulls, a collegiate summer ball team in Southern California. Over the course of three summers, Coach Goulding led the Bulls to a 57-13 record while winning three straight regular season league championships.

In just one full season (2020 shortened by COVID) at Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, Coach Goulding lead the Gaels’ infielders to an impressive .970 fielding percentage. Ranking 4th in the West Coast Conference. The Gaels were also impressive in the MLB Draft having 5 players drafted or signed professionally in those two years.

Goulding holds a Masters Degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine, and a Bachelors degree in Business Management from UTRGV.

Goulding and his Fiancé, Cailey, reside in Palo Alto.
