Bio

Coach DeSmidt has been part of the Bulldog staff since 2018. He works primarily with the catchers. He played both Baseball and Football at Carlmont High in Belmont. Later he returned to Carlmont as an assistant coach in Baseball, Golf and Football. For many years he's also coached tournament baseball at all levels. He currently trains with experts at The Catching Academy in advanced catching techniques. Under his leadership, CSM has a reputation for developing strong catchers and moving them on to the next level with great success.
 
In 2019, he retired as the Chief of Police in Belmont, CA after a decorated 32 year career. Chief brings a strong background in the mental side of the game and teambuilding. He draws on his vast experiences to prepare athletes to perform at their best under pressure.  Chief holds advanced degrees from Notre Dame de Namur University, California State University - East Bay, and the University of Virginia. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA.
 
Dan lives in San Carlos with his wife Kristi. Their daughter Morgan graduated from Nursing School at the University of Arizona and son Tyler is a graduate of the University of Oregon.
