Bulldogs ranked No. 11 in first CCCWVCA state poll
Fresh off its season-opening sweep at De Anza College on Friday, the College of San Mateo women's volleyball team is ranked No. 11 in the first California Community College Women's Volleyball Coaches Association (CCCWVCA) State Poll of 2024.
The Bulldogs cruised to a 25-15, 25-10, 25-15 victory, what should be the first of many this season, in Cupertino at De Anza.
From the CCCWVCA: 11. SAN MATEO, Coast South, 1-0: The Bulldogs are determined to come back after an off year last season and with nine sophomores they opened with a sweep over De Anza. As in season's past, San Mateo head coach Katie Goldhahn has put together a challenging non-conference schedule that will test her squad early.
This week, CSM travels to No. 2 state-ranked American River College for a 5 p.m. non-conference match on Wednesday (Aug. 28).
That is followed by the highly-competitive Delta Classic from Sept. 5-7. The three-day event at San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton will feature some of the top teams in the state, including host Delta that is currently ranked No. 4.
On Sept. 11, the Bulldogs host No. 3 Sierra College and No. 7 Fresno City College in a home tri match. And on Sept. 14, San Mateo is set to take on No. 5 Feather River College at the Folsom Lake College tri.
