Bulldogs close out season at Coast Conference Championships
The 2024 College of San Mateo swim season came to a close with some solid results at the Coast Conference Championships. The three-day event wrapped up on April 20 and was hosted by Chabot College.
With a roster of only 10, the CSM women's swim team totaled 280 points to finish in sixth place while the men's squad of nine compiled 147 points to end in eighth place.
The Bulldogs excelled in relays as the women's team had top-5 finishes in the 200 freestyle relay, 400 medley relay, 800 freestyle relay, and 400 freestyle relay while the men finished seventh in each of the five relays at the competition.
Top individual finishes for the CSM women came from Anja Linkwitz, Frejya Horn, Maddy Hsu, and Claire Taggart.
Linkwitz finished fifth in the 500 freestyle and sixth in the 1650 freestyle. Horn was eighth in the 100 backstroke, 10th in the 50 freestyle, and 12th in the 200 Backstroke.
Hsu had a busy weekend by finishing eighth in the 100 breaststroke, 11th in the 200 IM, and 12th in the 200 breaststroke. Taggart also competed in three events, taking eighth in the 100 Butterfly, 10th in the 1650 freestyle, and 14th in the 500 freestyle.
The CSM men got standout performances from Danny Rendon, Arman Zahabi, Armand Royeca, and Arvin Arbabi.
Rendon finished 10th in the 200 IM while Zahabi was 12th in the 100 backstroke, and 15th in the 50 freestyle. Royeca finished 14th in the 100 butterfly Arbabi finished 16th in the 100 Freestyle.
The Bulldogs were led by second-year head coach Andrew Silva.
