Bulldogs open new year with rout of Gavilan
SAN MATEO – The College of San Mateo women's basketball team started 2025 with a huge win as the Bulldogs cruised to a 78-19 victory over visiting Gavilan College on Friday.
CSM jumped out to a 19-4 lead after the first quarter and held a commanding 44-10 advantage at halftime. It was a complete team effort as all 10 Bulldogs that saw the court scored at least 4 points in the contest.
San Mateo had three score in double figures with Simone Murray leading the way with 12 points while Chozen Horn-Young and Trish Reyes poured in 11 points each. Horn-Young added 6 rebounds and Reyes had 7 boards.
Heaben Payton was impressive off the bench as she grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds to go with 5 points and 4 steals. Delissa Powell chipped in with 8 points and Andria Trierwiler posted 6 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
CSM improved to 10-7 overall and 7-1 at home this season. The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday (Jan. 8) when they open Coast Conference North Division play at home against Las Positas College at 5 p.m.
