REDDING – The No. 21 state-ranked College of San Mateo women's basketball team picked up its seventh consecutive win on Thursday by defeating College of the Redwoods 79-60 to open the three-day Shasta College Crossover Tournament.
Sophomore Jayonnah Carter posted a double-double with 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs in the win. She also added 4 steals and a pair of assists.
CSM got big contributions from its bench. Simone Murray totaled 14 points and 5 rebounds, Joanna Corona posted 10 points and 5 boards, and Chozen Horn-Young chipped in with 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.
San Mateo improved to 8-1 overall with Thursday's win. The Bulldogs look to keep the momentum going on Friday (Dec. 1) when they take on host Shasta at 6 p.m.
