NORTHERN CALIFORNIA PLAYOFFS BRACKET
SAN MATEO – No. 2-seeded College of San Mateo moves on in the postseason thanks to a pair of shutout victories over No. 15-seed Feather River College to sweep an opening-round series of the 2025 Northern California Regional Playoffs.
A trio of Bulldog pitchers dominated visiting Feather River by allowing just seven hits over the two games.
Nohemi Livingston set the tone in Friday's opening game, going the distance while giving up four hits in the seven-inning shutout.
Despite CSM's stellar pitching, Feather River's Brittany Byram kept her squad in the game by limiting the Bulldogs to a run over the first four innings of the contest.
But San Mateo finally blew the game open with a three-run rally in the fifth inning. A Feather River error allowed Taija Warren to score before Love Cabanas delivered a clutch two-run double that drove in Ava Mendoza and Sierra Pasco.
Pasco went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and Cabanas was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI to lead CSM at the plate.
On Saturday in Game 2, Gianna Tassio (5 innings) and Nia Mapa (2 inn.) combined for the shutout. Tassio gave up just three hits while Mapa was perfect in her outing.
Jessica Gutierrez drove in runs in the third and fifth innings to give CSM a 2-0 lead. The Bulldogs put up three runs in the sixth, thanks to a two-run double by Cici Kim and an RBI single from Ale Phillips.
Pasco added a sacrifice fly to bring home Gutierrez with the game's final run in the top of the seventh (CSM was the designated visiting team in Game 2).
With the wins, San Mateo improved to 37-3 overall. The Bulldogs will take a 10-game winning streak into next week's Super Regionals set for May 9-11. CSM will host No. 10 Hartnell College in another best-of-three-game series starting on Friday.
