
Bague, Taufa capture gold medals to lead CSM at State Championships
SAN MATEO – The College of San Mateo track & field team earned gold medals on each day of the 3C2A State Championships.
On Friday, it was freshman Aiydan Bague that dazzled the home crowd at CSM's College Heights Stadium with his first-place state championship finish in the men's triple jump with a leap of 14.99 meters (49-2 ¼).
And on Saturday, sophomore Jane Taufa took the top spot on the podium in the women's shot put for another state title with her toss of 13.99 meters (45-10 ¾).
The Bulldogs qualified for 16 events at the state championships with Bague and Taufa leading the way. The CSM men totaled 37.5 points to finish in 10th place while the women took 11th place overall with 26 points.
Bague competed in three events, adding a bronze medal for third place in the long jump (6.94m/22-9 ¼) and placed seventh in the high jump (1.90m/6-2 ¾).
Other finishes for the CSM men at the state championships included:
Jaeden Vazquez: Triple Jump, 5th, 13.89m / Long Jump, 11th, 5.87m
Cal Adasiewicz: Pole Vault, 8th, 4.25m
4x100 Relay (Jered St. Onge, Jax Bonney, Antonio Campbell-Rodriguez, Ryan Kehan), 4th, 41.34
Jax Bonney: 400, 8th, 49.86
Ryan Kehan: 100, 5th, 10.58 / 200, 4th, 21.66
Ericka Dorn put together a solid Saturday on the track for the San Mateo women. She was fifth in the 1500 meters at 4:51.54 and took sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:21.59.

Deia Kerseg-Forman: 3000 Steeplechase, 5th, 11:46.63
Mele Petelo: Shot Put, 4th, 12.45m
The meet wrapped up another impressive CSM track & field season, led by head coach Kajari Burns.
