Bulldogs win two at Cabrillo Saltwater Classic

APTOS – Kiahn Nice had a team-high 17 points and grabbed 9 rebounds while Jason Montgomery, Pawllos Habtom, and Andrew Taylor Bryant-Frey all scored 12 points each to help lead the College of San Mateo men's basketball team to a 73-60 win over Folsom Lake College to close out the Saltwater Classic on Sunday. The three-day event was hosted by Cabrillo College.

The Bulldogs went 2-1 at the tourney to improve to 5-6 overall on the season. On Friday, CSM opened with a 64-52 win over Merritt College but suffered a narrow 77-73 loss to Columbia College on Saturday.

Nice once again led the Bulldogs in the Merritt victory, scoring a game-high 21 points. Habtom posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards and Jaden Martin chipped in with 11 points.

San Mateo nearly pulled off a comeback against Columbia, but a 12-point halftime deficit was too much to overcome. Martin totaled 17 points lead the Bulldogs in the defeat. Nice and Bryant-Frey both had 14 points each and Montgomery contributed 10 points.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Friday (Dec. 8) when they will compete at the two-day Reedley College Tournament. CSM is scheduled to take on Cerro Coso College at 5 p.m. and will take on Cosumnes River College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
