
San Mateo season ends in Super Regionals
FRESNO – The 2025 College of San Mateo baseball season officially came to a close with the Bulldogs' two playoff losses against Fresno City College in the Northern California Super Regionals.
After opening the Super Regionals with an 8-5 win over College of Marin on Thursday, San Mateo dropped consecutive games to FCC, falling 8-6 on Friday and 14-11 on Saturday.
Game 1: Fresno City 8, San Mateo 6
CSM outhit Fresno City 14-13 in the contest but left 11 runners on base. A five-run, fourth-inning rally by the Rams proved to be the difference in the contest.
Dylan Hillman and Aaron Babaev both hit home runs and had 2 RBI each for the Bulldogs. Luke Rossi went 3 for 5 with a pair of doubles to lead CSM at the plate.
Dominic Cristinzio was solid in relief to help keep CSM in the game. He threw the final five innings, allowing just a run and four hits with five strikeouts.
Game 2: Fresno City 14, San Mateo 11
Another big inning by the host Rams proved costly as Fresno City put up five runs in the top of the sixth innings (FCC was the designated away team) that was the difference.
San Mateo banged out 12 hits and scored double-digit runs for the third time in six postseason games. The Bulldogs put together a three-run rally in the third, scored four runs in the fourth, and posted three more in the sixth.
Babaev (1 for 4, BB, 3 RBI) hit a home run for a second straight game while Kieran Baker (1 for 2, 2 RBI) also went yard. Dylan Hillman (3 for 5, 2 R) and Ethan Lopez (2 for 5, RBI) both had three hits each to lead the CSM offense. Charlie Welch drove in three runs, going 1 for 5 with a double.
San Mateo closed out the 2025 season with a 28-16 overall record under head coach Riley Goulding. The Bulldogs were Coast Conference North Division champions with a 15-5 mark.
