CUPERTINO – Luke Rossi went 3 for 4 with a triple and 5 RBI while Dylan Hillman smashed a two-run home run on his way to 4 RBI in College of San Mateo's 19-2 victory at De Anza College on Saturday.
The win capped a three-game Coast Conference North Division sweep for the Bulldogs and extended their winning streak to six games. Last week, CSM also swept City College of San Francisco in a three-game set.
San Mateo's offense came alive against De Anza, outscoring the Mountain Lions by a 44-11 margin. CSM took the opener on Tuesday 11-4 in Cupertino and cruised to a 14-5 victory at home in Game 2 on Thursday.
Game 1: CSM 11, De Anza 4
San Mateo erased a 3-0, third-inning deficit and capped the win with a five-run rally in the top of the eighth. Rossi hit his first home run of the series and was 3 for 5 with 2 RBI. Jeremy Wrona (2 for 4, RBI), Leandro Pena (2 for 5), Ethan Lopez (2 for 5, RBI), and Aaron Babeav (2 for 3, RBI) all had 2 hits each.
Dominic Cristinzio tossed 4 innings of relief and allowed just a run and 2 hits while striking out 5.
Game 2: CSM 14, De Anza 5
Hillman had a huge game at the plate for the Bulldogs, going 4 for 5 with a triple and 2 doubles while collecting a game-high 4 RBI. Rossi was 3 for 4 with an RBI while Wrona reached base 5 times, going 2 for 3 with a pair of walks.
Michael Volkman was solid in the start for CSM. He went 6 innings and gave up a run and 7 hits while striking out 7 batters.
Game 3: CSM 19, De Anza 2
After a two-run, first-inning, the Bulldogs rallied for 5 runs in the second, six more in the third, scored twice in the fourth, and added 4 final runs in the fifth for the big lead.
Rossi (3 for 4) drove in 5 runs while Hillman (2 for 5) and Leandro Pena (3 for 5) both had 4 RBI each. Charlie Welch also had a good game at the plate, going 3 for 6 with an RBI.
Corbin Giesen picked up the win as he tossed 6 innings and gave up a run and just 2 hits.
With the three wins, San Mateo moved to 16-8 overall and remains perfect in the Coast Conference North Division at 6-0.
