The College of San Mateo women's volleyball team is headed back to the postseason for the fifth straight year. On Thursday, the Bulldogs were named the No. 15 seed for the upcoming Northern California Regional Playoffs. Postseason brackets were announced by the California Community College Athletic Association (3C2A) for the both the north and south regions.

San Mateo will host No. 18 Sacramento City College in a first-round match on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 6 p.m.

Ticket prices for the 3C2A postseason match at CSM's College Heights Arena are $12 for general admission and $8 for all identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children under 12 years old. Tickets are available online at the CSM Athletics website. | TICKETS

After a challenging start to the season, the Bulldogs are looking to build off a solid second-place finish in the Coast Conference South Division. San Mateo was tested early with one of the toughest schedules in the state and had a quality win over defending state champion Feather River College.

Under head coach Katie Goldhahn, CSM closed the Coast Conference schedule with an 8-2 record in the South Division and is 13-10 overall heading into the playoffs.

Last season, the Bulldogs made history by reaching the state championships for the first time. But their run was cut short by Feather River in the tournament semifinals.

Sacramento City enters Saturday's contest with a 14-16 overall record. The Panthers finished seventh in the Big 8 Conference at 5-11. They have lost four straight matches to close out the regular season.

Saturday will mark the second meeting of the season between the two squads. On Sep. 7 at the Delta Classic, the Bulldogs cruised to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-20 sweep of the Panthers.

The winner of Saturday's contest will move on to face No. 2 Fresno City College in a second-round match on Tuesday (Nov. 21) in Fresno. Three wins are needed by the Bulldogs to advance to the 3C2A Championships on Dec. 1-3 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
