Bulldogs' season ends with 3-2 loss to Mt. SAC at State Championships

SARATOGA, CA — The Mt. San Antonio Mounties ended day two of the 2024 3C2A Softball State Championship with a bang.

Morgan Kneubuhler hit a walk-off single to keep the Mounties title hopes alive and propel Mt. SAC to a 3-2 win over the College of San Mateo.

The Mounties will face defending champions Cypress College tomorrow at 3 p.m. at West Valley College. Mt. SAC improves to 38-10 and the Bulldogs end their season 38-7.

Tied 2-2 in the bottom of the seventh, a pair of walks and a hit by pitch loaded the bases for Kneubuhler with two outs. The catcher answered with a sharp hit to center field, deep enough to score Audrey White for the game-winning run.

Janis Espinoza led the Mounties with two hits and a run. Mercedes Alba finished with one RBI, one hit, and one walk.

Mt. SAC scored two runs in the first and held the lead for most of the game. But the Bulldogs made a push late. In the top of the seventh with two outs and trailing by one, Ari Williams hit a double to left center to get into scoring position. ​​Vanessa Lang followed with a single up the middle to drive in the tying run.

Williams finished with two hits and scored the Bulldogs' first run when Emma Kinder singled her home in the third inning.

Aleyna Urbina picked up the win, striking out three in five innings of relief.
