SAN MATEO – The final out of a doubleheader sweep of visiting Sacramento City College on Saturday will go down as another pair of non-conference victories for the 2024 College of San Mateo softball team as the Bulldogs continue their quest for another state championship.
But for head coach Nicole Quigley-Borg, as well as assistant coaches Toby Garza and Dale Bassmann, Game 2 of the early season doubleheader had special meaning. The 13-0, five-inning victory over the Panthers marked the 600th win for Quigley-Borg in an impressive CSM head coaching career.
Its a journey that began back in 2007 for the trio. Over that time, the program has averaged over 30 wins a season, has captured 10 conference championships, made a trip to the postseason each year, and brought home a state title in 2022.
The Bulldogs improved to 4-1 this season as Quigley-Borg moves on towards win No. 700.
