CSM rolls past Sequoias 45-21 with fast 31-0 start

VISALIA – Richie Watts, in his first start for College of San Mateo, completed 16 of 23 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns and the state No. 4 ranked Bulldogs rolled over host College of the Sequoias, 45-21, Saturday afternoon (Sept. 10).
 
CSM (2-0) took a 31-0 lead in the first 19 minutes. Ezra Moleni scored on a 3-yard run, Justin Sinclair on a 40-yard interception return, J'Wan Evans on a 33-yard run, Noa Ngalu on a 10 yard fumble return, and Gabe Plascenica on a 40-yard field goal. Watts later had fourth period TD tosses to Colin Giffen (6 yards) and Brian Pierce (62 yards).  
 
No. 12 Sequoias (1-1), which had upset Butte College in the opener, got its touchdowns by Al Dixson, on runs of 3-and-1 yards and a 16-yard pass from Nathan Lamb -- who led the Giants offense with 105 passing yards and 68 rushing yards.
 
--CSM Kick-scoring ace Plascencia tallied nine points for a second straight week.
 
Moleni rushed for 94 yards on 18 carries and caught two passes for 43 yards. He has 225 total rushing and receiving yards to date. Evans had 55 yards on nine carries, plus two pass reception for 37 yards -- to increase his early state pacesetting all-purpose running total to 355 yards in two games.
 
Ngalu and Flynn Williams led Bulldogs tacklers with five apiece.
