Bulldogs cruise to 10-1 win over Cosumnes River

SAN MATEO – Keoni Coloma and Karl Peters both drove in a pair of runs while starting pitcher Joey Cirelli tossed six solid innings to help lead College of San Mateo to a dominant 10-1 win over visiting Cosumnes River College on Tuesday.

Cirelli struck out five while scattering five hits in earning the victory to improve to 2-1 overall this season. Cirelli was cruising before allowing the lone run in the top of the sixth.

Ryan Baker, Cade Berry, and Nick Gonzalves all tossed scoreless frames to close out the ball game.

The top of the CSM lineup did the damage on offense. Coloma from the leadoff spot hit a sacrifice fly and was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to earn 2 RBI while Peters from the No. 2 position in the order smacked a two-run double in the fourth.

Nathan Martinez went 2 for 2 while scoring three runs and Kai Hori (2 for 3) had a pair of hits and RBI to contribute to the win.

The win improved the Bulldogs to 9-2 overall. CSM is back in action on Friday (Feb. 24) when it hosts College of Marin in a 1:30 p.m. non-conference game.
